Joseph Loring Cherry Shelf Clock, Boston, c. 1800, with painted kidney-shaped Roman numeral dial signed Joseph Loring, Boston , inlaid case with fret top and French feet, eight-day time-only movement with iron weight and pendulum, ht. 38 in. Note: An eight-day tall clock by Joseph Loring is in the J. Cheney Wells Collection at Old Sturbridge Village, and his daybook is in the collections at the American Antiquarian Society. feet and blocking are replaced, pierced fret is probably an old replacement, dial relined with slight in-painting along lower edge and dial post area, original weight, pendulum, hands, movement needs cleaning.
