Victorian Lacquered Writing Desk, 19th century, upper portion with hinged top opening to reveal a velvet-lined writing surface and compartments for writing utensils, top removes to a checkered game surface in mother-of-pearl inlay, with lower drawer, all on two scrolled trestle legs with turned stretcher, decorated allover with gold and polychrome paint and mother-of-pearl inlay on black lacquered ground, total ht. 32 1/2, wd. 23 1/2, dp. 20 1/2 in. Hinge to top is damaged and separate, velvet writing surface with usage wear, scattered surface abrasions, some cracking to lacquered surface.
