Paint-decorated Lapped-seam Covered Box, New Hampshire, 19th century, round box with pine top and bottom, bent maple sides with opposing lapped-finger joinery, the cover with gilt initials "O. H." and polychrome flowers and vine, the sides ornamented with green and yellow leafy bands, on a salmon-painted ground, ht. 1 5/8, dia. 3 3/8 in. Provenance: Purchased at William Smith Auctions, Plainfield, New Hampshire. Good condition, very minor paint wear on cover edge.
