Colburn, Frank (d. 1932) Autograph Telegram, Signed. Single page, framed, on Colburn's ornate Yankee Tourist stationery July 9, 1898, to his Aunt Delia in Randolph, Maine, written from Fort Baker; evenly toned, with a little water spotting, and a tear along the center fold. Colburn posed as the Uncle Sam character for his entire adult life. During this period, the Spanish-American War, he was serving with the California Volunteers. "I am with the heavy artillery, the great big guns that send death and destruction into the ranks of our enemy."
