Mintons Footed Bowl, London, late 19th or early 20th century, transfer decorated in brown with the climactic scene from Aesop's fable "The Tortoise and the Hare," with floral motif around rim and foot edge, base faintly stamped Mintons, hairline to rim, ht. 2 1/2, dia. 9 in. Note: Decoration is copied from one in a series of Aesop's themed tiles designed by John Moyr Smith for Mintons in the 1870s.
