Two Ishii Shoten Carved and Painted Bamboo Figures, Kyoto, Japan, early 20th century, both figures in floral patterned kimonos with five removable wigs: the first to illustrate the proper hairstyle for women ages four to seven; the second for women ages eight through twelve; the third for women ages thirteen through sixteen; the fourth for women ages eighteen through twenty; and the fifth for women after marriage.
