Froelich Confederate Officer's Sword, c. 1861-65, brass hilt with the letters C.S.A. in a banner on foliate designs, quillon has an X X stamp, leather-wrapped grip with brass wire, unmarked steel blade, with Spanish brown painted scabbard with brass drag, bands, and X X marked brass throat, blade lg. 29, overall lg. 35 in. Provenance: By family descent to the consignor. Note: This sword was purportedly brought home by a veteran of the 13th New Hampshire Regiment at the end of the Civil War.
