French School, 17th/18th Century Murder on the Steps of a Roman Palace Unsigned. Ink and wash over pencil on laid paper, 12 3/16 x 8 1/2 in. (31.0 x 21.5 cm), framed. Condition: Creasing, rippling, affixed along both vertical edges to mat board support, laid paper appears to be mounted to a paperboard support. Provenance: Through the collection of W.G. [William George] and Olivia Constable. N.B. W.G. Constable was Curator of Paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and an expert on Canaletto.
