Red-painted Maple Slant-lid Desk, New England, mid-18th century, the lid opens to a stepped interior of valanced compartments, five short drawers, and two document drawers with split-baluster fronts, over three thumbmolded drawers all on bracket feet, old red varnished surface, (imperfections), ht. 40, wd. 35 1/2, dp. 17 3/4 in. Provenance: Possibly owned by Timothy Fuller, born in Middleton, Massachusetts, in 1739. Note: An early leather wallet belonging to Timothy Fuller of Cambridge, Massachusetts, dated 7 Oct. 1822, was found in an interior drawer.
