Autograph letter signed by Stein, undated, on Biblignin par Belley Ain letterhead, blue writing paper, inscribed by hand on both sides. To Arnold Gates, thanking him for writing, and asking him to send more of his work, including his novel; the letter originally folded in quarters, some very light edge fading, 10 1/2 x 8 1/4 in.; [and] a typed letter signed by Toklas, 28 December 1934, single page, written from the Algonquin Hotel, also to Gates, assuring him that Stein is not the author of a poem called "Wither Thee," and asking that it not be published under her name, old folds, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 in.
