Deep-purple-glazed Libation Cup, China, possibly Ming dynasty, tripod jue form, the oviform well with flat base and corn-shaped rim with two upright tubular finials, the exterior decorated with two raised lines near rim, each foot in the shape of a carved animal head with paw, unglazed underside, ht. 5 3/8, wd. 6 1/4 in. Provenance: Sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire. Note: With a sticker reading "Frank Caro Successor to C.T. Loo" to base.
