Provenance: Sold to benefit the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University. N.B. Around the image Smith has written the following: "On March 28, 1941 Virginia Woolf took her life by drowning in the River Ouse near her home Monk's House in Sussex with heavy stones in the pockets of her long coat."
