David Prifti (American, 1961-2011) Matriarch . Incised and branded "PRIFTI...." and titled in ink on the reverse. Liquid photographic emulsion on wooden fence fragment, 35 x 24 in. (88.9 x 61.0 cm), unframed. Condition: Surface grime, minor cracks in emulsion due to normal aging of the wood and the embedding of the emulsion into the grain. N.B. David Prifti combines family photographs with found objects to create assemblages that reflect both his personal history and the passage of time. This work portrays the artist's grandmother, Margaretha Prifti, who emigrated from Albania to America.
