Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione (Italian, 1609-1664) The Nativity with Angels and God the Father , c. 1647, only state (Bartsch 7; Bellini, 22). Signed within the plate. Etching on laid paper with textual watermark, plate size approximately 8 1/8 x 15 3/4 in. (20.5 x 39.9 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Trimmed to or just within the plate mark, minor creases and repairs near edges (some into the image), pale foxing. Provenance: M. Roy Fisher, New York; by family descent to the present owner.
