Bronze Mythical Animal, China, possibly Tang dynasty, half-seated with its forelegs half-raised and head turned to the side, tail coiled, decorated with incised details, the forehead marked incised "wang" (king), ht. 3 7/8, wd. 4 5/8 in. Provenance: Estate of the late Charles R. Rogers, Assistant Director of Baltimore Museum of Art, per repute given to Mr. Rogers by Dr. Chao-Ming Chen of Baltimore, Maryland, a dealer in Chinese antiques from 1925-1955 and the owner of The Tai Sheng and Co.
