Four "Loop" Chairs after Frances Elkins (1888-1953) and a Card Table Wood, resin, paint Circa 1970s Each chair of typical design with woven cane seats in a glossy cream-colored paint finish; the table with rattan detailing in matching finish with a leatherette top over square legs, some wear and paint losses; chair ht. 37 3/4, wd. 19 3/4, dp. 17 1/2; table ht. 28 1/4, dia. 32 in. Note: Interior designer Frances Elkins is famously associated with the iconic Loop Chair. Often referred to as the "Elkins Loop Chair," this design was hailed 'The 'It' Chair' by The Magazine Antiques . The Elkins version of the Loop Chair was inspired by an 18th century chair; only eight are known to have been created in the early 1930s for two private commissions.
