Ken Druse (American, b. 1950) Water Nymph Unsigned, c. 2006 Fiber glass, laminating resin, epoxy, verdigris finish, ht. 43 in. Condition: Minor losses. In addition to being an accomplished artist, Ken Druse is best known for his eighteen books on gardening. He has contributed to nearly every gardening and decorating magazine and his work, Making More Plants: The Science, Art, and Joy of Propagation , won the "Award of the Year" - the highest honor - from the prestigious Garden Writers Association. The American Horticultural Society listed his first large format work, The Natural Garden , among the best books of all time. Called "a gardening superstar," in Publisher's Weekly, and "the guru of natural gardening" in the New York Times, Ken Druse is also a celebrated lecturer, and an award-winning photographer. The outdoor sculpture Water Nymph (or Pond Naiad ) was originally designed and created by Druse for the pond in his Brooklyn, New York, garden, which has been featured on WGBH's The Victory Garden , as well as a variety of gardening publications.
