John William Hill (American, 1812-1879) View of Mount Washington, New Hampshire Signed and dated "J. W. Hill/1878" l.l., titled in a later hand on the frame backing. Watercolor on paper, 10 7/8 x 16 7/8 in. (27.5 x 42.9 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered foxing, very mild mat burn, affixed at intervals to backing mat along bottom edge. N.B. A note on the bottom of the frame states that this work was purchased in 1972 from Mrs. Colette Laing, who formerly owned the Hill family home in West Nyack, New York.
