After Thomas Lawrence (British, 1769-1830) Head and Shoulders Portrait of Sir Thomas Lawrence . Unsigned, inscribed "Sir-Thomas Lawrence/an English-court Artist.../Feb. 12-89" on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 24 x 20 in., framed. Condition: Minor retouch, small tear in l.r. corner, fine, stable craquelure. N.B. The original Lawrence oil self-portrait of this period is an unfinished canvas c. 1825, now in the collection of the Royal Academy in London; it was frequently copied by Lawrence's students.
