Loose Painting Depicting Pines, China, John Way (1921-2012) [Wei Letang], against a rocky mountain amidst misty clouds, in dry and wet brush strokes, color on paper, signed in cursive script with a seal, 14 7/8 x 22 3/4 in. Provenance: The family of the artist. Way was a student of Li Zhonqian, and C.C. Wang described Way's brushwork as "powerful, direct, free and spontaneous, like the dynamic movements of a dragon" in 2000.
