Five Pewter Tea Caddies and a Sweetmeat Box, China, 19th/20th century, three cylindrical, two with an inner cover with a knob, incised with a fisherman under a pine to one, a seated figure under a banana tree and calligraphy on the other, both with a Huikee Swatow mark to the underside of cover and to the base of box, and one with a dragon lightly incised to body, a bird-and-flower design on top of the slightly domed cover, ht. to 7 1/8; and a pair of rectangular caddies with lobed edges, resting on four bracket feet, decorated in brass with auspicious animals and plants on the sides, the covers with a red bead knob, both with wood stands; the three-tier round box with cover, resting on a raised stem foot, decorated in brass with a floral and foliate scroll band to each tier, slightly off balance, two-character mark on base, ht. to 6 3/8 in. Provenance: The pewter collection of Ruth Raymond, Beacon Hill, who began collecting in the 1940s.
