24th Regiment of Foot Cartridge Pouch Plate, c. 1777, brass plate with a crown over 24 , back has five studs to attach to the pouch flap (two broken), ht. 3, wd. 2 3/8 in. Note: Found on private property in the vicinity of the Battle of Bennington, Vermont. This plate is quite possibly from a member of Captain Alexander Fraser's Company of Marksmen. This unit was comprised of men from each regiment who would be chosen by their ability to shoot, strength, and good character.
