Iron-hilt Sword and Wooden Scabbard, c. 1861-65, crude iron hilt and guard, wooden grip, iron blade with light file marks, wooden two-piece black-painted scabbard with a leather belt loop, blade lg. 28, overall lg. 34 1/2 in. Provenance: From the collection of the Valley Forge Historical Society. Note: Attached to the hilt is a tag which reads "CONFEDERATE FOOT/ARTILLERY SWORD./WOODEN SCABBARD/(MADE BY CONFEDERATES)."
