Paint-decorated Dower Chest, Berks County, Pennsylvania, late 18th century, decorated on the top and front with two mustard yellow panels of intertwining tulips and red and green floral pinwheels surmounted by an arch all flanked by balusters and painted baluster corners, the sides with shaped mustard yellow panels and intertwining flowers on a brick red ground, all above double dentil molding alternately painted red and green continuing on the sides, on stepped base of two thumb-molded green putty-painted short drawers centering a small green putty-painted short drawer framed by red molding all on ogee bracket feet, brasses appear to be original, (minor imperfections), ht. 27 1/2, wd. 49, dp. 22 in.
