Younge Chiming Gothic Library Clock, Sheffield, England, c. 1840, oak case with carved flame over dual quatrefoils finial, accented with foliate and trefoil carvings, fabric backed pierced side sound frets, engaged hexagonal acanthus leave columns flanking the brass and beveled glass bezel over the 10-in. silvered Roman numeral dial, subsidiary chime/not chime dial above marked C.F. Younge , Sheffield , and presentation plaque below marked Presented to The Bebd. Stephen H. Langston M.A. by the congregation of St. Georges Church, Sheffield as a small token of their affection and esteem for the faithful manner in which he performed his duties as THEIR PASTOR, for a period of 15 Years, Septr. 1840 , with eight-day, fusee, time, strike and Whittington quarter chime on eight bells movement regulated by a pendulum, ht. 37 in.
