First trade edition, half-title, frontispiece, engraved title vignette, illustrated with four plates (one of which is the map); bound in full contemporary tan calf, rebacked, corners bumped, contents crisp, 11 3/4 x 9 1/4 in. The Comparative View of the Ancient and Present State of the Troade (beginning on page 307) is one of the earliest of the attempts to work out Homeric geography.
