Condition: Lined, retouch, surface imperfections from canvas weave. Provenance: Purchased from Donny Malone Auction Gallery, Inc., Saugerties, New York, July 27, 2002. N.B. A note accompanying the lot, written on a George Tooker exhibition announcement postcard (1985) from Marisa del Re Gallery, Inc., New York, indicates that the canvas was inscribed on the reverse with the name of the sitter, Jaro Fabry, now covered due to lining. Fabry (1912-1953) was an artist and illustrator.
