Painting depicting a quaint harbor scene with small rowboats in water next to cottages on coastline, image likely of Maine as the artist spent summers in Biddeford Pool, Maine. Framed 20.5" x 19". Sight size approximately 13.75" x 12.25". Note: This painting could also very well represent a view of or from the James Montgomery Flagg House, a historic house in Biddeford, York County, Maine. The building was the summer home of the artist of this watercolor who was a noted New York-based artist and illustrator best regarded for political cartoons. Interestingly, the 3,500-square-foot historic property was sold by James Flagg in 1940. In 2013, the Biddeford Historic Preservation Commission approved the demolition of the James Montgomery Flagg House.
