Profusely illustrated with approximately 385 engraved plates with full margins, many with hand-coloring, including duplicate states. The engraved plates constitute the original 60 plates after Detaille in two states (uncolored and hand finished), and hors-texte full-page separate sheet plates of the numerous in-text illustrations, chapter headings, title pages and half-titles of each volume.
