Illuminated Antiphonal Leaf. Abby of Mont de Ste. Marie, Gosnay. Made by Louis de Vellechecq for Marguerite de Bacovel, 1539-1542. Original leaf from a Flemish antiphonal on vellum. Seven lines in four-line staves in black ink with headings, rubrics and rulings in red. One large pink and white illuminated initial with blue flower on gold and one blue initial with flowers on gold ground. Ex John Carter Brown Library. French matted, fine. 7 x 4 2/3 inches.
