19th century. Ornate adjustable brass metal magnifying glass on stand. Magnifying glass of traditional round form and on handle connected to horizontal support connecting to shaft with dial, star and flora decoration raised on three foliate decorated paw feet on a metal tripartite base with brass label that reads "M & Co PATENT ADJUSTABLE GRAPHOSCOPE". Top with fleur-de-lis motif surrounding profile facial mount. Height 18.3". Provenance: According to the consignor, purchased from Sotheby's in the late 1990s whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia.
