A collection of manuscript letters and documents pertaining to 3 brothers from Frederick County, Maryland who were soldiers in the Civil War. Dating from the years of and directly after the war, the collection includes an induction notice into the Union Army, letters to family members and friends describing several battles and daily life at camp, a patriotic tirade against the South, 3 letters from Colonel William Schley regarding the death of one of the sons, and a document of sick leave for one of the sons signed by William W. Veck, surgeon in the Second Regiment, Maryland Volunteer Infantry, who had previously been a U. S. Representative for the State of New York. A detailed list is available upon request.
