Dutch, 19th century. Pair of Neoclassical style satinwood and rosewood inlaid jardinieres of rectangular form with hammered copper metal inserts within. Top edge with striped wood work, sides with inlaid oval medallions with flowering plants. One side with bronze medallion laurel wreath handle surrounding profile of Classical young male victor. Each raised on four tapered rectangular legs terminating on gilt metal feet. Height 17.5", width 10.75", depth 11". Provenance: According to the consignor, purchased from Sotheby's in the late 1990s whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia.
