Ernest Barlach "Das Wiedersehen" Sculpture

Ernest Barlach (German 1870-1938), "Das Wiedersehen (Until They Meet Again)", original plaster sculpture. Figural sculpture with patinated bronzed finish depicting two figures embracing, one looking feeble with legs bent, bleak desperate expression and arms resting on beared figure's shoulders. Incised on integral rectangular base "E. Barlach" further raised on rectangular brown wood base. Overall height 20.75". Height of plaster sculptural element approximately 18.5". Provenance: From a private collection in Atlanta, Georgia.
