THIS LOT IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE lithograph 33 x 98 cm. (13 x 38 1/2 in.) [sight] signed in pencil 'Sergei Semenoff, 00' lower right and initialed in pencil EA lower left NOTES: Iconic post-modernist pseudo-autobiographical "poem" written in form of a novel in 1970 by Benyamin Erofeev, describes author's long-distance train voyage from Moscow to the city of Petushki. While it was censored by government until Perestroika, it was published and distributed by Samizdat and had tremendous popularity among Soviet intellectuals. S. Semenov was born in 1956. He illustrated many books, including published in 2000 special edition of Erofeev's "Moscow-Petushki" ("Nevskaya Kniga", St.Peterburg). The offered work is a hand-colored lithograph (author's "proof") of the central page illustration.
