Typed letter signed ("A. Einstein") to Dr. Hans Cassel [Palo Alto, CA], Princeton, NJ, April 29, 1935, in ink on stationary paper measuring 8 1/2" x 11" (one page). Einstein writing "You know yourself how difficult it is to bring Jews and double difficult foreign Jews to the university." (Cond: paper shows creases and has been taped at creases, age toning) Provenance: Family of Dr. Hans Cassel, Boca Raton, FL (8000/10000) German to English Translation: Princeton, N.J., the April 29, 1935 2, Library Place Mr. Dr. Cassel 195 Park Blvd. Palo Alto, CA. Dear Mr. Cassel: Professor Hermann Weyl and I have given Mr. Bernays, who is personally known by me, a lot of thought, without finding the right solution. You know yourself, how difficult it is to bring Jews and double difficult foreign Jews to the University, if not certain vanities can be satisfied with big names. Additionally, Bernay is not very young anymore. If you know of a Town, which would give Bernay any prospects, I would of course invest myself in helping. I will also again discuss the matter with my colleagues here. With friendly greetings Your A. Einstein
