Old Believer's Workshop, copy from Miracle Image, which was in Old Believer's Church in Moscow. Egg tempera and gesso on wood panel. Overlaid with brass and gilded repoussé cover. Two insert splints on the back (both missing). 54 x 44.5 cm (21 1/4 x 17 1/2 in.) Acquired in the 1930s in Moscow by the Grandfather of the present owner, a diplomat in the Italian Embassy to the Soviet Union Thence by descent
