An eight-page handwritten music arrangement from jazz great John Coltrane signed by Coltrane. The music is for “Lovely Way to Spend An Evening,” which is handwritten on the cover. Also written on the cover is "Featuring/ (Heavy) Herring/ (DouBoy) Carlson/ Joe Skyles" and "Arranged By Wray (Heavy) Herring." The preprinted sheet music paper is written on in both ink and pencil. Coltrane has signed the arrangement on the last page “John W. Coltrane.” A pencil drawing of a figure appears on page seven. The pop standard was written by Jimmy McHugh and Harold Adamson in 1943. Accompanied by a receipt from the original auction where the item was purchased in 2005 and a document created by the Smithsonian National Museum of American History outlining proper care for the item.
