A three-volume set of scrapbooks made by Greta Garbo's family. The books have articles and published photographs regarding the actress and her career dating to her early films in Sweden. Included are photographs and articles that identify her as Greta Gustafson. The articles are in Swedish, German and English. Many of the clippings are rare Swedish language reviews and interviews from Garbo's early film releases. The scrapbooks appear to end at or around 1937. The scrapbooks also contain information on John Gilbert and Mauritz Stiller and Garbo's sister Alva, who aspired to be an actress as well. Contained in one of the scrapbooks are watercolor paintings taken from publicity photographs of Garbo in The Temptress (MGM, 1926) and A Woman of Affairs (MGM, 1928). Both portraits are signed "S.H." by an unknown artist. Largest, 12 1/4 by 10 inches Categories: Greta Garbo
