A modern reproduction of an early 19th century captain's chest. Marked with a plaque on the top, "The Great Pacific/ S. Francisco 1808." Walnut with brass hardware and tooled gilded leather writing surface and a fitted glass protective top. The top row has two pull-out drawers flanking a center pull-out compartment that unfolds into a writing surface which also lifts up and conceals additional fitted compartments. Beneath are two over two additional drawers.
