Sold for:
$28,800

A nude demi-cup foundation bra from Marilyn Monroe's flapper dress from the motion picture " Some Like It Hot " (UA, 1959). The costume, designed by Orry-Kelly, was restored and preserved in 1999, at which time it was determined that the bra was causing damage to the delicate fabric and removed from the dress. The bra was not intended for support but to hold Monroe's breasts in place while wearing the revealing gown. The clasp at the back of the bra is assumed to have been added after filming for publicity photographs where the strap would not be seen. The bra is housed in a frame with an image of Monroe in the dress. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from The Collection of Motion Picture Costume Design. Framed, 46 by 31 1/2 inches Categories: Marilyn Monroe
