A collection of signatures of every best leading actor, best leading actress, best supporting actor, and best supporting actress to ever win an Academy Award, from its inception in 1929 through 2012. This collection includes signatures spanning the entire scope of Hollywood history, including Mary Pickford, Lionel Barrymore, Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Vivien Leigh, Jimmy Stewart, Ginger Rogers, James Cagney, Bing Crosby, Joan Crawford, Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, Marlon Brando, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda, Jack Nicholson, Michael Caine, Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, and Natalie Portman, among others. The first Academy Awards ceremony was held in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, honoring best actor Emil Jannings and best actress Janet Gaynor; in 1937, the Academy added the best supporting actor and actress categories to the ceremony. Also included in this collection are the signatures of Buddy Rogers, who starred in the first film to ever win Best Picture, Wings , and Jean Hersholt, whose Humanitarian Award is still presented during the Oscars. Most signatures are on photographs with others on album pages, index cards, and cut sheets. Many obtained in person by the consignor. Approximately 320 pieces. s Categories:
