A multi-colored silk fringe attributed as being a piece of the sash Rudolph Valentino wore in The Son of the Sheik (United Artists, 1926). The fringe was gifted to Gwen Vaughan by Marie Elliot. Elliot purchased the sash from Mrs. Angele Wood, the contestant winner who was awarded the sash in a Picture Show contest that occurred shortly after Valentino's death. Elliot sold the sash as Lot 160 at Christie's Opera, Cinema and Stage Sale of Costumes of Memorabilia on April 20, 1982, in South Kensington. Accompanied by two newspaper clippings of Valentino wearing the sash, a copy of the newspaper clipping announcing the sash contestant winner, and a typed description of the history of the owners of the sash.
