A depiction of the Academy Award statue "Oscar" in a state of advanced decay. Created in an edition of three, two of which were covertly placed early in 2010 at separate locations in Los Angeles, one along the ridgeline of Runyon Canyon Park, and the other, offered here, in the parking lot of Mel's Drive-In just down the street from the location of the Academy Awards Ceremony. In an interview published by NBC dated March 6, 2010, when questioned about how he came up with the idea for this project, D*Face responded, "The Oscar ceremony represent[s] the pinnacle of superficiality within the so-called "film industry," where formula and money triumphs over independent creativity and risk. These sculptures are donated to all the actors, actresses and filmmakers of the City of Lost Angels whose talents will never see the light of day. Never give up the struggle, believe in your dreams, try and break the system and remember if all else fails, resort to plastic surgery -- it seems to work!?!” 88 by 30 inches Categories:
