A six-piece scarlet period costume worn by Barbara Eden in The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm (MGM, 1962). The costume comprises a long crepe cape with pleated collar and silk lining; a long-sleeve crepe gown with raised waist, ruched silk faille to hemline, fichu-like silk faille adornment to bodice with emerald green embroidered vine pattern, fringe, cream pleated organdy to collar and cuffs, an MGM cleaning tag is present; a persimmon silk velvet bonnet with velvet flowers and rose faille ribbon, petal pink silk and pleated organdy lining the brim; an ivory cotton underslip with raised waistline and eyelet trim; a pair of painted pumps with velvet ribbon branded Kay King and inscribed to the bottoms "7M" and ivory nylon socks. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards in 1963 and won Best Costume Design (Color) for Mary Willis. Accompanied by a black and white scene still, an MGM stock tag, and a bias label that reads "Barbara Eaden [sic]." PROVENANCE From the Collection of Glenn Brown Categories:
