A collection of approximately 25 Colonial and early American documents relating to the history of Lynn, Massachusetts, in Essex County. The earliest document, a manuscript indenture dated 1678, is twice signed by Thomas Danforth, a prominent magistrate during the time of the Salem witch trials. Danforth was portrayed in the stage and subsequent film versions of Arthur Miller’s Tony award-winning play The Crucible (1953). In addition are approximately five 18th century deeds, including one signed by Ezra Collins, possibly the neighbor of Paul Revere, and approximately fifteen 19th century documents, including at least two dealing with the sale of the wharf in Lynn. Largest, 19 1/4 by 15 7/8 inches Categories: Colonial American Documents
