An extensive collection of documents from the personal files of John Calley relating to the production of the black comedy film Catch - 22 (Paramount, 1970) based on the classic Joseph Heller novel of the same name, including numerous telex correspondence, letters, and inter-office memos (vintage xerographed copies and originals) detailing the film from the early stages of development to its completion and theatrical release. Also includes Polaroid photographs of Alan Arkin; large format color transparencies of advertisements designed by Bill Gold; John Calley's personalized seat back from his director's chair; and a prop military uniform patch that was designed for the film based off of the actual insignia worn by the 488th Bomb Squadron in World War II of which Heller was a member.
