A group of five Madonna transparencies for promotion of her 1989 album Like a Prayer in Japan. The first has an image of the album cover and a track listing with the Japanese translations. Three of the transparencies are portrait photographs of Madonna taken by photographer Herb Ritts. The last transparency contains the ad slick artwork for the “Like a Prayer” single as well as the Pepsi logo next to Madonna’s name. Madonna entered an endorsement agreement with Pepsi for which she created a commercial using the song “Like a Prayer.” The commercial was a success until the controversial music video for “Like a Prayer” was released. The video, now associated with Pepsi through its commercial, proved too controversial for the drink maker, and the commercial was pulled.
