A vintage style baseball glove worn by Robert Redford as Roy Hobbs in the motion picture The Natural (TriStar, 1984). The leather right hand glove was custom-made for Redford, who is left-handed, and has been distressed. The fingers are connected by leather stitching, extending through the thumb, which features holes for webbing. The glove also features an adjustable wrist strap with a faux brass button closure. Redford used the glove throughout filming and can be seen in the final scene of the film, when he manages to overcome his physical pain to make the final home run of the game, winning his Knights the pennant. The stitching between the digits of the glove, as well as the size and length of the knots on the thumb and pinky of this glove have been screen matched to the one worn in this scene. The Natural , also starring Robert Duvall, Glenn Close, Kim Basinger, Wilford Brimley, and Robert Prosky, was nominated for four Academy Awards.
