Mixed media on fiberglass. 10 by 3 1/2 feet Of the Epicenter creation Edwards says: "On the front, the guitar is set aflame with 3D fire that rips up from the bottom. The classic black guitar is chipped at the edges, obviously from age, revealing the natural wood that makes up its main body. At the top of the neck, you can see that something is growing from the other side. As you walk around to the other side, you realize that this guitar is still growing from a large tree that copies its silhouette. Some may think that they've seen all this piece has to offer, but if you peek inside a tiny knot hole in the tree, you'll get a surprise. Inside is a view of the earth, and on this planet is its sole continent...Texas." Johnny Edwards of Epicenter Epicenter is possibly the fastest growing creative fabrication shop in Texas specializing in retail, museum, and tradeshow environments. Founded by Jeff Swanner (not pictured) and Johnny Edwards (center) in early 1999, this group of creatives churns out large-scale foam sculptures, detailed natural environments, and fantastic murals for clients worldwide. When news of GuitarTown reached Epicenter HQ, these guys pushed to get involved any way they could. Their skills were quickly put to use to sculpt and cast all of the artificial rock bases for the guitar stands, as well as design and fabricate one of the large guitars.
